Make room for people to act
A hundred thousand places to begin.
Build the host tools and network that help local groups gather and do useful work.
WHY THIS IS WORTH DOING
Online coordination becomes more real when people have somewhere appropriate to meet.
THE VISION
Activate 100,000 community spaces
Imagine a network of willing hosts and suitable community spaces, with clear expectations, accessible invitations, and useful gatherings at the center. One hundred thousand is the ambition, not an inventory we already have.
Start with a host’s actual needs. Work through permission, suitability, safety, and local requirements. A repeatable host experience is more valuable than a map filled with unverified pins.
MAKE THE NEXT CHAPTER REAL
Start with one useful thing.
Bring hosting experience, an appropriate public venue connection, or the tools a small local chapter needs.
- 01
Try a first step.
Write down what a local host needs to welcome people and run a useful gathering.
- 02
Build toward something concrete.
Prototype the host flow and document the first opt-in space and its recurring local activity.
- 03
Show what changed.
Share the work and its sources. Show the gaps as well as the progress. Give the next person a way to help.
What would count as progress?
A working app, an explicit active-space definition, owner consent, deduplicated counts, and recent activity. 100,000 is a target, not the current count.
A working host app and 100,000 active spaces.
Goals are not reported results. A linked channel is not proof of an achieved outcome. This quest is an invitation to build, not a claim that a complete team or solution already exists.
YOUR PART DOES NOT HAVE TO BE EVERYTHING
Help this quest find
its next person.
Follow the story. Bring a skill. Raise your own flag for this mission. Every honest contribution gives the next chapter somewhere to begin.
